Concorso D'Eleganza Villa D'Este 2009 - May 01, 2009
Hi everyone,Today I want to tell you about one of the most beautiful car shows on the Italian territory: the "Concorso d'Eleganza Villa D'Este", a classic car event that this year celebrated the 80th anniversary of its birth since 1929. The event as every year it took place in Cernobbio, a beautiful location on Lake Como, in Italy, and structured over three days: the first two were at Villa D'Este and were accessible only for car owners and for the press, while the third day, Sunday, the Concorso d'Eleganza was to Villa D'Erba and was public. In this way everyone was able to see one of the most surprising mixes between prototypes and very rare vintage cars! This year for me it was the first year that I attended this event and it was incredible !!!I went with a friend (the great Matteo from Italinsupercar.net) on Sunday. We arrived in Cernobbio very early and therefore we saw many cars of the "Concorso D'Eleganza Villa D'Este" on the road between Villa D'Este and Villa D'Erba. Here I have probably seen one of the most beautiful cars ever: the new Aston Martin One-77 !!A truly extraordinary car and seeing it marching on a public road gave me an incredible emotion! It is not an everyday thing to see and hear the sound of the engine of a limited edition supercar with a price of 1.1 million euros !!! However, this car hit not only my heart, but everyone's heart and for this reason it won the prize of the best concept car of the event! But the "One-77" was not the only incredible machine present at Villa D'Erba. There were also five Bugatti Veyron, four of which were "Centenaire Edition"! 1001 HP and priced at around 1.5 million euros! Also there was Bertone's new prototype: The "Mantide".This is a concept car with a very aggressive bodywork that recalls the style of the "Lamborghini Revénton" in the rear and in some details, such as vents, recalls the creations of the Italian car designer Fioravanti. However this edition will be remembered above all for the incredible Ghia Gilda Coupe Concpet (created for the Turin Motor Show of 1955 in Italy), an amazing car with a gas turbine as the engine !!! It will be difficult to forget the hiss that only the Gilda engine can give! :-DNow I will not describe in detail all the other cars of the "Concorso D'Eleganza Villa D'Este", in which there were classic cars also worth millions of euros or prototypes such as the Zagato Perana Z-One and the BMW Gina Light Visionary concept with a shell made of high-tech fabric! In the end I think this is one of those automotive events that cannot be missed for a car enthusiast! However next year I hope to have accreditation for the press not only for Sunday, but for all three days and thus enter Villa D'Este! Hopefully also in less rain...Have fun with the photo gallery! (about 100 photos! :-D)Hello and see you soon
